Matt is a genuine all-rounder who can bat, bowl and keep (not all at the same time). He has played cricket from a child and his Grandad, Uncle and cousins all played and his Mum is an avid cricket fan, so he was always going to end up playing. Matt has ADHD and OCD and cricket is his love and outlet.
After a few years away from cricket he returned to play for Stanford-Le-Hope C.C. in Essex and spent the next 10 seasons there until he moved, with his wife, to Wales.
11 years in to life in Wales and Matt now plays for Baglan C.C but in 2025 he hit a bump in the road. He was diagnosed with a type of non-cancerous brain tumour that was affecting his vision and had to undergo surgery. After working hard to follow his surgeons instructions as well as getting back to fitness he returned to the field for the last few weeks of the 2025 season.
In 2026 he will again play for Baglan C.C. BUT will also be playing for Sparkford C.C. in Somerset.
When approached to play for Sparkford C.C. he couldn't say no to helping the club with it's rebuild project and we are incredibly proud to be supporting both him and Sparkford C.C. on this journey.
